Ep #196: The fear narrative peddled by the mainstream media.

Charles Kovess

In this episode, I delve into the deeply-concerning issue of mainstream media's manipulation and fearmongering, that will significantly impact your perspective if you're not careful.

I recently spoke at a book launch, addressing the fear-porn peddled by media and its effects on individual psyche. Mainstream media, driven by a hidden agenda, selectively covers topics to attempt to maintain control over your perceptions.

As trust in government dwindles, it's essential to question the narratives presented by mainstream media.

I say it's crucial to critically evaluate the sources of information you consume. Whether it's newspapers or online news outlets, maintaining a discerning eye is key.

I buy The Australian newspaper every day for a number of reasons, including the need to collect hard, physical evidence that will be relevant in future cases against Government's attacks on its citizens.

I also consider the news content and cross-reference with alternative sources before forming my opinions.

In another act of bastardry, mainstream media also ignores or misrepresents stories of individuals fighting for justice and truth.

Nick Patterson's story of fighting Victorian Police corruption highlights the importance of standing up against injustice. Nick's wrongful arrest was given extensive media coverage three years ago, but his success in court against the Police this week has been ignored by mainstream media.

No wonder less than 30% of Australians are consuming mainstream, leading to lousy profits of those organisations. In fact, it's quite encouraging that so many normal Aussies have woken up to the fear porn peddlers!

Lastly, I spotlight two valuable resources: the book "Lighter" by Karen Foote and Michele Sherr, offering insights into self-identity and health, and Vincent Melling's book "Getting into the Flow," exploring structured intuition. These resources provide tools for personal growth and empowerment in navigating today's media landscape.
